A few years ago, one of my friends started a dinner club. We take turns doing dinner and sometimes plan an additional activity, remember last year we took everyone on a hike. Well, this year I planned a photo rally scavenger hunt! We ate a yummy Mexican dinner complete with my friend Kristin's amazing avocado salsa (to die for, want to eat with a large spoon), pico de gallo, chips, black bean soup (yummy one from ourbestbites.com) and a chicken tortilla soup. It was great sitting, relaxing, eating, and being with good friends. After dinner, we divided into (randomly picked) teams and headed off with our list and a time limit. We had to meet at Cheesecake Factory in one hour with a prize going to the team that completed the most items. The bigger prize (a Cheesecake Factory gift card) would go to the couple with the most creative picture documenting their adventure.
Yes, we felt like we were teenagers and with many of the group approaching or already at 40, it was a hoot! A few of the things we had to capture were:
Horizontal body lift on a flag pole (90 degrees from the pole, parallel to ground)
Push 10 carts (all at once) from a parking lot to inside a retail store
Ask a stranger for a dollar
Go to a new car lot and do your best pose by your dream car
Go through a drive through window and order only ice water with lemon
Give your spouse the most passionate public (meaning strangers see you!) kiss you've ever given!
Stand by the Walmart greeter and give one customer (must be stranger) your best impression of how the job should be done.
Take a photo of something that defines you as a couple
Jump off something - how high will you go?
Go bowl someone else's bowling ball in the middle of their game (yes, at the bowling alley)
Go to a furniture store and "try out" (just lay on) three mattresses
Go to your favorite yogurt shop and purchase one swedish fish
Can you get into the back of a restaurant with one of the cooks?
What the biggest thing you can get for free?
We met at the restaurant, moved the photos to our mini laptop and enjoyed some good laughs along with delicious cheesecake for dessert. Joe and Amber won the photo contest with the criteria that their photo (and video) would have gotten the most "you tube" hits. What a fun night!!
What a fun date night idea. I'm not sure I could have pulled all of those photos off! (Plus I love the dinner club idea.) We've been thinking of doing a Cake Boss date night with friends. It could be interesting.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a hoot! I want the full photo list so we can do it too.
ReplyDeleteGREAT IDEAS!!!! I am going to try that with some friends! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun was that? You always come up with the best ideas. I would love to have seen the pictures taken throughout the night. You are so lucky to have such great friends. Love to all!
