We LOVE Valentines Day around here.
Tyler and I celebrate on a different evening and so the actual 14th of February
is all about the LOVE we have together with our kidos!
We had spent the previous days and weeks decorating our home, making and filling Valentines for classmates and friends, and writing love notes to each other.
The kids were even wishing each other Happy Valentines Day EVE the night before at bedtime...I think that is when Tyler started to finally see the hugeness this holiday is in their eyes!!
In the morning they woke up to a small gift on their breakfast plate and Dad's pink pancakes.
Gotta have a silly one!
School was an afternoon full of sugar, games, exchanging Valentines, crafts, and more sugar!
Afterwards, we made Tyler's favorite chocolate chip cookies and got ready for our fancy dinner.
The kids exchanged the cute things they had made for each other.
Is that not enough to MELT your heart?
On the right Katelyn wrote to Megan, "you and me and together forever and ever".
So cute, I LOVE it!!!
We had ribs (one of our family favorites) which turned out super tender and yummy!!
Red velvet cake for dessert, (apparently when the recipe says an entire bottle of red food coloring, it means it!) which tasted good, but wasn't bright red.
The kids made me the CUTEST tri-fold card.
I will have to scan it in because it is a keeper and SO sweet.
Boy I love them and am so lucky blessed to have each of them in my life.
After this I put my camera down and we enjoyed one of our very favorite Valentines traditions, a LOVE roast.
The person being roasted stands on a chair and we go around and share the many things we LOVE and appreciate about them.
Seriously, the spirit of LOVE was so thick I could cut it.
I want to put it in a bottle and open it when they argue with each other
about who wore what shirt last or whose turn it is to pick a Redbox, etc. etc.
I think for those few sacred moments in families when the LOVE is almost tangible,
must be a little of what heaven will feel like!
And although I didn't get a photo of my sweetheart, Tyler and I...I am one very blessed woman.

To be married to the man of my dreams, world's best travel companion, and my best friend...
what more could a girl ask for?!
It looks like everyone had a great Valentines' Day. HAPPY VALENTINES' Day to seven of my favoirte people. It is so important to make holidays special and memorable and you seem to always succeed there. You kids are so fortunate to have such a wonderful, caring and loving mother. Give her big hugs for me! Love to all!
ReplyDeleteI love Valentine's Day, too. Such fun traditions. I love the craft party, too. My girls would love something like that. I'll have to think about that one.
