After an afternoon of seeing the long awaited, Toy Story 3 at the theaters, dinner at a yummy Mexican restaurant, we were up early Wednesday to visit This is the Place Heritage Park.
Nestled in the southwest corner of the Salt Lake Valley, this park is a great stop for kids. There is a ton of fun activities to do stepping back into the old West including train rides, Indian tepees, gold panning, leather stamping, horse rides, basket weaving, pottery, games, weaving, and school lessons. You can see what happened to my father-in-law. He had to have his nose to the wall, dunce hat on, and hold books behind his back - that's what you got in those days for being disobedient! Yikes!
One of the kids favorite things was visiting the bank to exchange their gold that they had found gold panning. The banker played the part perfectly and gave them a hard time since it only took them 10 minutes to find their gold, calling it "lazy gold", but still gave them each two pieces of candy.
What a great time we all had. Wish we hadn't been so rushed and able to spend more time there. Maybe next time.
