Tuesday we hiked to Timpanogos Cave.
High in the Wasatch Mountains, we enjoyed a beautiful 1.5 mile hike climbing almost 1200 feet in elevation. The kids thought it was amazing that the entrance was 6,730 feet above sea level and we come from Sacramento only being 25 feet! The views of American Fork Canyon were gorgeous and the weather and company perfect!
We invited my sister, Kristin and she's always a favorite with ALL the kids!
Inside the cave, our guide turned off the lights. It was SO dark; dark enough your eyes would never adjust! After he turned them back on we got a quick group photo.
The cave consists of three caverns and helictites and anthodites are just a few of the many formations to be found in the many chambers. This is the "Heart of Timpanogos" and gives an idea of what the cave looks like inside. The temperature inside the cave averages about 45 degrees, note the sweatshirts!
We took our time coming down, stopping for snacks and water breaks. We sang lots of songs too.
The kids were all about picking up any garbage so they could become Junior Rangers. They had a great time completing their booklets and are anxiously awaiting their badges and pins!
