Matthew's got a lot of "firsts" right here in a row including first day of school, lost tooth, and field trip. However, I think for him the most exciting has been his first soccer game! Last fall he found out that he could have played and was quite upset. He didn't understand why his friend, who was born the day AFTER him was playing. Surely he should have been able to play, right?!?
Well, his friend's mom doesn't have five kids all in their own activities (including piano, dance, flag football, soccer, scouts, and activity days) and yet realize that there are MANY years of soccer ahead. One additional year without adding that to the schedule was wonderful!
But THIS year IS Matthew's year and it's quite obvious he's ready!!
He was aggressive and had several steals.
He scored a goal and had six additional attempts that hit the pole.
As goalie he didn't allow any balls to get past him. Here he is hands ready with his "game face on".
And, last but not least, he pulled out of no where a DROP-KICK! Who knew he could even do that? Well, he did and it was pretty awesome! The coaches and other parents went crazy!
He doesn't lack confidence, in fact he's confident that if he makes 100 goals this season...I'll buy him 100 Krispy Kreme donuts!!
