Even though I feel like we've had 2,348 field trips I have to record Matthew's first.
He was giddy that I was coming and his friends could ride with us.
And even more excited that we were going to an apple orchard.
It is the local orchard, Machados, where we get pounds and pounds of fruit each fall.
We love their peaches, apples and pears especially.
This month our family bought, ate, froze, or dehydrated
40 pounds of peaches and 80 pounds of pears.

Here is his cute Kindergarten class.
I love his cute teacher, she is darling!
These kids tried seven different apple varieties as they walked through and learned about the trees and fruit. The employee giving us the tour had the kids repeat several times, "what falls on the ground stays on the ground". It was interesting to note that this orchard has a policy where nothing (even completely good fruit) is picked up off the ground. They invite the local animals to clean up the earth's floor when they are done harvesting therefore giving back to the community, maintaining quality control, and reducing the risk of germs and future recalls.
This cool machine could peel and core 84 apples a minute!
They even got to tour the bakery where they make fresh fruit pies daily.
They looked delicious!
Sure love my time with this cute boy!

Here are two of his friends that got to ride with us. This is such a fun age! I loved listening to their conversations and silly jokes the way up the hill. No competition, just cute little stories.
