Many of our Primary children are reading the Book of Mormon and we are so excited!
(You can read this post about how it all got started).
With an extra Sunday and a well-deserved party to plan
(they get a party when they fill a jar with fuzz-balls for things like bringing their scriptures, inviting a friend to church, serving their family or friends, or being reverent),
my (awesome, by the way) Presidency decided to plan to bring 1 Nephi alive!

Cute Anna did a darling activity teaching the Lehi's vision of the Tree of Life. I had been debilitated by the idea for weeks because in my head I was going huge (think BIG tree, huge painted great and spacious building, rod across the entire room)...ridiculous I know for a 15 minute experience we are trying to give the kids. So, thankfully I got some sense and handed that one to Anna. She did a beautiful job and the kids loved it!
I did an activity teaching the Liahona, one of my favorites from the Book of Mormon.
I had a tent set up and one of the boys inside acting it out as I read through the account and told the rest of the story. We talked about what the Liahona represents? Where are the words of Christ found? Where do the words of Christ lead people? What things caused the Liahona to cease working? What difficulties did Lehi and his family suffer when the Liahona ceased to work? What difficulties can people suffer if they don't give heed to the words of Christ?
I also set up a small obstacle course with "mortal birth" at the start and "eternal life" at the end. Blindfolded, the child had to maneuver around chairs and tables labeled with possible life trials.

Last, but not least Mara taught about the scriptures being full of nuggets.
She played this Mormon Message and testified of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.
I found these cute scripture nuggets.
Here is what you need:
a piece of black paper (2.5 x 1.75 inches)
piece of red embroidery floss (2.5 inches long)
white paper with scripture verse on it (5.5 x .75 inch)
Here is the finished product:
Mara made them for the junior primary children and we let the senior Primary kids make their own with some glue and q-tips. They turned out darling!
*I know a few of my readers :) aren't members of my faith, but know how much I love my church, Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. Of course, you can always ask me anything and there are some great FAQ's here.
