Every fall, during the week of school conferences (early dismissal) we go on a leaf finding adventure. We drive around town and find the most beautiful, bright, colorful, leaves. We climb the trees if we have to. I don't have a photo, but this year I had to get a camping chair from the back of the van, be supported by the kids as it teetered over the curb and I stood on it's arm rest to get some of the most beautiful and vibrant leaves in town!! :)
We collect and gather and proudly show off our leaves.
We roll around and down the small hills, if we want!
And then we go home, heat up our paraffin wax and slowly cover each leaf, letting it dry on wax paper.
After all the leaves are covered and dried, we tie them to string and make the most beautiful garlands.

Ok, I am so doing this next year with my kids. I didn't think to wax them. I am pretty clueless sometimes- do you get the parafin wax at Michaels? I so do love your ideas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun activity! But where are the pictures of the garlands you made with all those beautiful leaves? I can't begin to tell you how happy it makes me to see pictures of all of you and your beautiful smiles. What a great and loving mother you have. You are so blessed! Love to tall!
