After a mad dash from Idaho to Utah we headed straight to the wedding center in Sandy! Tyler worked on the ironing (yes, he's a champ!!) while I finished my three girl's hair. It was fun to be a little "fly on the wall" talking a few photos as three of Alyssa's five sisters helped her get into her gorgeous dress. They are a darling women and so fun and friendly!
The ceremony started at 4:00 and Katelyn and Megan were first down the aisle as "flower girls". Although they didn't have any smiles (I think they were a little nervous with all those eyes on them), they were so excited to be a part of Nathan's day and to wear their fancy white dresses.
As per tradition, Nathan did not want to see Alyssa's dress or her before the ceremony. Knowing that, I loved watching him as he saw her and watched her walk towards him. Alyssa looked truly gorgeous and Nathan was moved to becoming emotional. There's nothing like seeing a man in love. It makes me so happy for him!
Next Alyssa's brother in law, Travis sang and played a beautiful song.
And then the rain started. The only ten minutes it rained during the day. Although I didn't realize this at the time (as my hair is getting frizzier and crazier by the minute!), but since have heard that actually rain on your wedding day is good luck!! Rain on your wedding day is a superstition said to bring good luck to the marriage. According to the old wives' tale, the knot in "tying the knot" becomes wet and is harder to break, thus making the marriage stronger. In addition, rain was also a symbol of fertility to agricultural societies, since rain restored and maintained the wellness of crops. Crops were peoples main source of stability and income so it was thought to guarantee a long happy marriage! WOW, who knew? Anyway, it rained for a few minutes and I'm imagining that Alyssa could have cried, but instead look at her beautiful smile as she looks up at those clouds that had just moved in.
Their vows were sincere and beautiful. Alyssa listed the many reasons why she chose him and Nathan exclaiming his love and July 29th to be the day he became the luckiest man in the world.
I didn't have the best angle and wasn't the "official photographer", but here's a few more shots I got from my chair.
To conclude the ceremony Nathan and Alyssa invited her little girl, Bentley up to give her a locket to remember this special day for their family.
Afterwards their was a beautiful reception inside with lots of great food. It was so fun seeing and catching up with so many family members and friends.
Here's my "new family pic" from their super talented photographer, Channing Kasallis. Love it!
I love my "big" brother and am so happy for him. Wish he lived closer!
