15 Years

Since this blog's primary purpose is my personal, family history you'll have to excuse the "gushiness" and understand this post's personal nature.  I have been extremely blessed to be married for fifteen years today.   This is one of my favorite photos from our wedding.  Boy, do we look young!
When I met Tyler I had just received my associates degree from Ricks, had transferred to BYU, was just coming out of a relationship, and was ready to not be very serious with anyone.  In fact, I was planning to serve a mission for my church that following summer.  The Sunday night before school started, while sitting in church, I spotted him.  He was very handsome.  I loved his smile.  I can tell you what I was wearing (only because he still remembered it and I've still got it) a red with white flowers, print dress.
That night we both attended "ward prayer", our eyes met and to this day I can't stop looking at him.  Our apartment of girls and his apartment of boys "hung out" that night in their apartment.  We sat around and chatted, small talk about where we were from and what we were majoring in.  Tyler had a football and was tossing it around a little and as the conversation continued, he and I had our own little conversation and football toss going on between us.  He and I eventually moved outside and threw the ball between us.  He says that's where I initially won him over, with my spiral!  I doubt it :)  He had just returned from his mission earlier that summer and it was so apparent by his "pre-mission" style.  His pants were still pegged and rolled, his hair had a sweet wave to it!  We started spending a lot of time together.  At the beginning it was me making him batches and batches of cookies, most nights at midnight for a snack!  Our first "official date" (after I put an end to the cooking with no dates coming) was to Olive Garden.  And the rest was history.  We got engaged in June (in front of the Jordan River temple, yes he was down on one knee) and married nine weeks later.  Here is one of our engagement pictures.
We were married August 14, 1996 in the Salt Lake Temple.  I love him so much more today than I did then.  I recognize God's hand in my life leading me to marry Tyler.  I realize that his strengths compliment my many weaknesses.  I appreciate his desire and efforts to make me happy.  I am so blessed to have him as my best friend and forever companion.  I love you Tyler!
We had a great day together.  In the morning we went to the lake with the kids and had a wonderful time, including some adult conversation while the kids are totally entertained with a few shovels and buckets.  After we got home Tyler surprised me and took my rock wall climbing.  The wall was really high and quite the workout.  We had a really fun time.
That night we went to dinner at one of our very favorite restaurants, Cheesecake Factory.
It was a wonderful day together!  I count Tyler as one of my choicest blessings everyday.
