Another beautiful day hiking with Heidi in Desolation National Forest. These lakes, Upper and Lower Echo lakes are only accessible by boat or by hiking in. Along the way we found some great cabins. Some of them looked so fun that we asked if they were available for rent. We were surprised to learn that these cabins are actually on National Forest land and legally aren't available to rent. Most of them are owned by families who have been passing them down from generation to generation. The lady in the store told us that in the 31 years she had lived there only five cabins had gone up for sale.
We chose to enjoy our lunch at the end of this dock. What a beautiful place for a picnic!
