Birthdays are kind of a big deal around here and Katelyn and
Megan are the biggest advocates.
There isn’t a birthday in our home that the twins aren’t making perler beads and cards weeks before, up early making breakfast in bed, decorating the table and helping to plan the perfect birthday meals and party. Seriously, they are the best at making you feel so loved on your special day! Of course, we wanted their day to be special and so they made many choices as to some of their favorites.
Their day started with birthday singing in bed, French toast for breakfast, and an outing to the ranch. Grandpa Prescott had horses ready and a plan to go get some cattle that needed to be moved closer to the ranch. We took turns riding Angel and helping Grandpa. Megan and Katelyn got to put their new knowledge and skills to use from the Placer County Horse Camp they attended last week. They loved being on the horses. Megan did such a cute job sweetly asking the cows, “come on, let’s go”. I was so proud of my little riders, they were quite confident. We had a fun time riding and playing at the ranch. Afterwards, Uncle Roy offered to take everyone to lunch at a Mexican restaurant in town. It was delicious. We spent the rest of the afternoon running to Walmart, making a blue raspberry with the brightest hot pink frosting ever (the girls choose), cooking dinner, and packing up a few things for our few days in Yellowstone.
Grandma Prescott is the BEST at decorating cakes and has some fun cake pans. The girls chose a book with pink frosting.
The girls wanted one of
their favorite meals, chicken alfredo and fruit salad.
After dinner we had our own little family party complete with singing, cake, ice cream and presents.
They were thrilled to get some clothes,
sunglasses, a hula hoop, crafts, books, and watches and eye-glass holding owls
(that we got in London last month).
They are sweet girls who love each other and their family. Megan is tender-hearted, loving and a great empathizer. She is always willing to read to Matthew, bring ice to someone who is hurt, and ask me what she can do to help. She is considerate of others and looks for opportunities to love and serve. She can make anything! And isn’t afraid to try. Katelyn is sharp and quick-witted. She is committed, hard working, unintimidated and willing to work for whatever she wants. She too is always willing to serve and happy to cook up anything, especially a batch of cookies!! We love these girls and seeing them grow up loving each other and as best friends makes us so happy. We love having them as part of our family!!
