Turkey Box Family Night

We were delighted to know about a service project that our entire family and a few friends could be involved with.  My friend told us that the members of our church in a nearby town were providing turkeys and looking for families to provide the non-perishable items.
We called a few friends and met at Walmart for a race to fill our boxes!
I had the list and stood at the finish line to check off the items.
It wasn't the first cart that came back with all the items correct...
or the second...or the third...in fact the FOURTH group won!
Things started off friendly.

And then the competition got a little TIGHT!
And teams had to turn back for an item that was missing or wrong...
and they all seemed to come in at the same time...
in a CRAZY (quite loud...good thing we were in Walmart, I'm pretty sure they would have kicked us out of Target) bunch!  Wrestling each other, holding back carts, stealing items from each other carts...
OH MY did we laugh?!?!

What a fun group of people!!
Afterwards we came back to our house for some wassail and a few other fall treats,
We watched the last few minutes of this amazing talk
A wonderful reminder that "rich or poor we are to do what we can when others are in need."
It was a fun night with family and friends AND as a bonus we gathered dinner for five families this Thanksgiving.
