Lake Tahoe Fun and Aubrey's 14th Birthday

We were so excited to have our dear friends, the Cahoons join us for our annual Tahoe trip!
It was especially fun because their daughter Ali is one of Aubrey's "bffs" :)
and it was perfect for Aubrey's birthday to be able to spend it with her!
Our family drove up Friday evening and the Cahoon family arrived Saturday morning.
They were welcomed with open arms, especially because they had Krispy Kreme donuts in hand!
We got our lunch packed and headed out for our first adventure to check out Cascade Falls above Cascade Lake.  We had our picnic at one of the tables in the parking lot and got going.
It was gorgeous!
With a beautiful backdrop of the lake, we hiked to a huge rocky area perfect for kids to explore.
They loved it!

There were a few wet shirts and shoes, but it was a warm day and no one seemed to mind.
You can see how this falls (at one point huge) runs into Cascade Lake below.
I loved the blue skies and this cool tree,
which appeared to be (at least at one point) growing out of the rocks.
On our way back to the timeshare we stopped at a little "greasy spoon", the Snowflake drive-in for ice cream cones.  I got an oreo shake and sweet potato fries, but next time I'll be getting the pesto and parmesan ones, they looked delish! When we got back it was time for our birthday girl to open our gifts.  (Time because she wanted cute hair for the pics and was headed to the pool asap:)
Her siblings adore her and I love their sweet gifts; a tape dispenser, card, and perler bead.
After our party we enjoyed swimming at the pool and what seemed like hours of chicken fighting.  I'm sure our cheering was possibly disruptive, but oh so fun!!
We spent the night playing games and piled on the hide-a-way couch watching Soul Surfer.
The next day we began at Emerald Bay and hiked down to the bottom.

The kids played on the dock, the men slept and we walked around Vikingholm Castle
(since it's closed for the winter).
Some of our group headed back (mainly because Tyler had to carry Matthew because he had a HUGE sliver) getting a start on the hike up.  Alicia and I took this small group to see lower Eagle Falls.
Yes, Andrew and Heather carried this the whole way up!  So funny!
After that we went towards Angora.  It was a beautiful drive,
with some wind-shield wiper pranks along the way.
The cute Cahoon family.  They are awesome!  We are so glad to be friends with them.
On our way back there is this gorgeous, small lake.
Of course, us girls had to end our evening with a facial.
The next morning we hiked to the top of Cave Rock.
The view was spectacular, but it made me a little nervous!
We made one quick stop at the water's edge to skip some rocks and wet our toe, before saying good-bye to beautiful Lake Tahoe.
It was a wonderful trip and here are the
Top ten highlights (not in any particular order):
1.  Chicken fights in the pool
2. Andrew and Heather arm wrestling
3.  When I called our sienna "Bessie" and Aubrey announced #idahogirl from the back seat
4.  Watching Soul Surfer, piled on the bed, with popcorn all together
5.  Aubrey and Alicia's birthday celebrations
6.  Seeing the castle in Emerald Bay (Cahoons first time)
7.  Great food. Full on waffle spread
8.  Playing games together amidst Matthews sliver removing screams
9.  Cascade falls and amazing hikes with fantastic weather
10.  Many, many trips to get ice/ the power behind holding a room key and riding the elevator (including the service elevator)  as often as adults would permit
