A grade three sprain

On Sunday night Aubrey and Andrew were playing, chasing each other, and ...Aubrey fell down the stairs.
The pain was immediate and the swelling quickly became evident.
Monday I got the earliest Dr. appointment available, but it was after school.  I felt bad sending her as she limped her way out of the car and towards campus.  When we got to the Dr.  he felt confident it was at least badly sprained, if not broken.
You can kind of see the size of it here.
(Please excuse the quality of these iphone pics)
He sent us off with crutches to get x-rays.
After the x-rays the Dr. called to tell us it was not broken,
but a grade three (severe sprain, as painful as a break) sprain.
She would need a crutches for a week and a boot for 4-6 weeks.
So the next morning we got her boot.
Her, very expensive (thank goodness for insurance), $750 boot.  This thing has an air pump...fancy!
And she headed off to school.
Still smiling, because at this point she still had another 1.2 hours before she
realized how absolutely annoying crutches really are.
I dropped her off with strict instructions, "find a nice, but very ugly boy to help you with your backpack"!

  1. So sorry you got hurt. Were you able to find a (ugly) boy to help with your back pack? Hope you're feeling better. Remember....."no more monkeys jumping down the stairs"! Love to all!
